ECSD Teacher arrested???

I opened up the Journal today...Mrs. Boodoo arrested??? NO WAY!!! She grabbed and bruised a student in her care??? NO WAY!!! This is what I know about Mrs. Boodoo, she's an great teacher and an even greater person...these things matter when someone is ACCUSED of abuse. Yes, she does things her way, but she gets results. Mrs. Boodoo is not the most popular teacher, but I believe she's one of the best. She's creative and at the same time strict in her approach...she's invested in YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION. I can truly say Mrs. Boodoo really cares about what she does. The question then becomes, "Could this situation have been handled BETTER with just a bit more communication between all partys. ALL SIDES... the Student's Mother,The School District, and Mrs. Boodoo . I really hope the reputation of a Great Teacher is not destroyed by a lack of communication.

Health Care and Race Baiting.

I know in the last couple of weeks folks have been talking about Health Care. Recently, Democrat Rep. Charles Rangel spoke at a Health Care forum in Washington Heights. He said "Why do we have to wait for the right to vote? Why can't we get what God has given us? That is the right to live as human beings and not negotiate with White Southerners and not count the votes. Just do the right thing." Is having "Universal Health Care" the equivalent to having a "Universal Right-to-vote"? And even if we continue with this premise...why would Rangel pull out "THE RACE CARD" ...especially in this conversation? The real issue is this, in these hard economic times, we still have wasteful spending. We can't AFFORD to have this conversation, until we address our wasteful spending.

In Review, Wawarsing Town Council Candidates: Johnson vs. Bradley

With The "Conservative" Party out of commission for this year (since joining Team Democrat), those few Conservatives that still believe biblical morality and fiscal responsibility is paramount, are forced to make a choice...Democrat or Republican. Looking through The Journal, reading the statements of Johnson and Bradley...the choice became crystal clear. First words of Johnson, "My Family...". First words of Bradley, "They say...". The Question..."What are your Motivations?" One up for the Republicans. Wawarsing, "What do you think?".

Replacing Tom Nolan: Burns or Bust!!!

The Older Social Studies Teacher and Coach Tom Nolan sent John Burn's Website a picture of himself wearing a Devil tee-shirt while on vaction in Hawaii. Let me repeat...TOM NOLAN SENT A PICTURE OF HIMSELF WEARING A DEVIL SHIRT TO JOHN BURNS WHILE ON VACTION IN HAWAII...RU KIDDING ME??? Think you got better things to do in HAWAII?
Meanwhile, on the same page, A Young Student and Golf Player Martin Gonzalez sent a picture to John Burn's Website of himself wearing a Ellenville tee-shirt with two Golf clubs crossing each other...Way to go Gonzalez, The Young will lead the Old.

Ellenville School District- John Burns...Since when has a PUBLIC SCHOOL become one man's Private Sanctuary? His own Religious Devil Mascot. His own Religious Devil Club. His own hand-picked coaches. In the August 20th edition of Shawangunk Journal, SporTalk: Burns admitted that in the past, he took a big sigh of relief when a small group of parents of children in the Ellenville School District and Community members failed to kick out the Devil Mascot. During that time, students wittnessed John Burns and others campaigning for Devil Support during School Hours...DURING PUBLIC SCHOOL HOURS!!! Now Burns, The Social Studies Teacher, is declaring that he will only accept three people to fill Tom Nolan, his buddy's vacant coaching spot, for the Ellenville Girl's Varsity program. Maxwell Mead, Phil Althouse, and Tim Lukaszewski. BURNS WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYONE, BUT THE 3 PERSONS HE PICKED. Has Ellenville become a Private School?...Burn's Devil Academy. Forget about parents, administration, or the school board...it's Burns or Bust. I can see it now...Burns thinking, 1sr The Devil Mascot, then The Devil Club, Now The Devil Coaches...then The Devil Teachers (one pinky on side of his mouth)...then The Devil Board!!! MooooHaHaHa!!! But don't worry True Believers, The Blue Angel is here to save the Day!!! Remember to support your Noble Lions and support Wawarsing Youth, despite some of their devil tee-shirts. Go, Lions, Go!!!

The Blueberry Fest: Walking on Market Street.

Ellenville- On Center Street, The Show is on! All kinds of food, information and merchandise...but on The Side Street called Market , the road is less traveled. Market Street, the location of ArtWave, Christ Ministries Baptist Church, Shawangunk Journal, T' s barbershop, Manny's boxing, Star's dance studio and Arianna's Pizza!!! Walking by 4 or 5 Blueberry Festival vendors, one caught my eye. ...Snacks-4-U. The Owner, Patrick Ingle, proudly displaying his Elect Gil Davis sticker, and was proud to let me know he was a member of The Ellenville Wawarsing Chamber of Commerce and Clients included The Wawarsing Highway Dept. From Triple head bulk candy machines to Snack Magic counter machines, Snacks-4-U had it all. Ellenville School District- The Great John Burns, A Man of Great Passion for His Devil! A Man of Conviction, A Man that ultimately cares a great deal for the youth of this community. A Man who breathed a Big Sigh of Relief when he found out His Devil Mascot would be with him and His PUBLIC SCHOOL for as long as he lives. I have to admit, The Great John Burns and His Supporters showed great restraint and tolerance for those wishing to kill The Blue Devil Mascot. When one thinks of The Ellenville School District, one thinks of the Wonderful Superintendent Lisa Wiles. The Faithful School Board member Pastor Collins and The Social Studies Teacher, The Great John Burns. The Last thing one would think of these people would be....Devils. Yet, all allow this Evil being to represent them. Look up Blue Devils in the Dictionary...blue devils (1781)-low spirits, Despondency. But don't worry True Believers, The Ellenville Angel is watching those who want to do the right thing...not the popular thing. The Blue Angel will continue to Highlight The Noble Lions of Wawarsing Christian Academy and remind All Parents and Residents that being Despondent is not a good thing. When all is said and done, and John Burns is praised for all his hard work and good deeds...Devil Keeper will be attached to His Name.

Blue Angel Sports Talk: Army football is here!!!

West Point- Excited about Army football? You should be! New coach, new system...maybe a new quarterback. Army coach Rich Ellerson has been impressed with freshman quarterback Trent Steelman. Steelman's quick, accurate and knows how to run the option. While Army quarterbacks rarely start as freshman, steelman could be the exception. Right now it looks as if Junior, Bowden will be starting. While Bowden has a lot of grit and ability to scramble, Steelman is the next Big Thing! Army's first Game will be at Eastern Michigan, September 5th. Go, Army, Go!!!

Blue Angel Sports Talk: GO WAWARSING LIONS!

This past year The Wawarsing Christian Academy Lion's captured the Mid-Hudson Christian Athlethic League Title. The Lions defeated Harmony Christian 80-69. Ryan Valencia had 22 points and was named MVP. Shawn Moraca added 19 points.

Ellenville- Entering LA CAFE is a pleasure in itself...Soul stirring smells, nice music, a friendly face. Meet Lamont of LA CAFE, a cool dude, a great cook. Lamont was glad to take me down the list of food he served...from Soul food like fried chicken, fish, and pork chops to Latin food like Pasteles (green bananas), pastelillos (beef or chicken patties), and Bistec Encebollado (steak and onions). There's always something good cook'in. LA CAFE even sells coffee...for those who want to sit down and enjoy the view (village square). Or one could just sit at the counter and watch news or sports on the flat-screen. Lamont wants the public to know that catering is available for your Community Organizations, Churches or Sports Teams. August Dessert of The Month: Sweet Potato Pie

August's Dessert comes from a local in Wawarsing. Keep sending us your cooking tips, no matter if you want to be known or stay anonymous!!!

Wawarsing Sweet Potato Pie

3 cups of Cooked warm mashed sweet potatoes.
3 Eggs
6 tablespoons of sugar (2 more if want sweeter.)

pinch of salt, nutmeg, cinnamon.

1/2 cup of Cream.
1 unbaked pie crust

instructions
1. Boil sweet potatoes in jackets until tender (20-30minutes)
2. Peel them while still hot and mash (pre-heat oven 350)
3. Beat eggs
4. Mix sugar and spices into mashed sweet potatoes (stir good)
5. Pour cream in sweet potato batch and blend.
6. Pour the sweet potato filling into the unbaked pie shell.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for hour.

ENJOY!!!

Ellenville teens demand construction of a skateboard park. Resident Jennifer Hayes and son Thomas reminded The Ellenville Board of 5,000 dollars that Tony Hawk's foundation gave. Village Manger Mary Sheeley will meet with Hayes. The Next Ellenville Board meeting is August 10, 2009 @ 7:00pm at The Government Center, 2 Elting Court.

Highway crews have been busy working at airport installing water and sewer lines..." -Wawarsing Highway Supervisor Gil Davis. The Next Wawarsing Planning Board is August 25, 2009 @ 7:00pm at The Town Hall.
